Belvidere and Belvidere North High School athletic teams participated in the first ever Walk of Athletes last Friday.

It was the first time that all fall sport teams walked the track before the football game, but many players didn’t really want to go. Most people thought we were going to do a full lap, but we ended up only doing a quarter of a lap.

We all were waiting around for us to start walking but they were super late to start it. It was suppose to start at 6:30 but it started at 7:05 pm.

I  was in the walk around the track and I didn’t like it at all. It was a waste of my time because the next day I had a huge meet for cross country. This is something that didn’t need to be done. We had a Fall sports opening night on August 18.

On the other hand, it was good to bring two schools together. Any time an event can promote good sportsmanship and camaraderie between schools is good.

For next time maybe make it so that when people walk in the gates they can donate to raise money for a  charity.

Great idea but things I would change to make it a little more worthwhile.
