The dance team recently returned to in-person competition for the first time since its 2019-2020 season.

The dance team had its first competition on Dec. 4 at Lake Zurich High School. Unfortunately, the team took last place.

“Having competition back in-person is great because it gives us extra motivation, and we are able to see the other dances we compete against” senior Tallory Wendell said.

Wendell has been on varsity all four years. She has also been captain for two years now.

Dance coach April Carli said that the team is excited to be back to performing live.

“Performing for live audiences rather than submitting a video is just phenomenal,” said Carli, who has been coaching at BHS for four years. “Dancers thrive off of the energy in a room so it’s great to be back in person.”

The varsity team competed at the conference competition on Jan. 13 at Harlem High School. It placed 7th overall.
