Singer Harry Styles encaptures his audience with his newest tour, Love on Tour in Chicago at the United Center on Sept. 24 and 25.
Love on Tour featured his most recent album, Fine Line, which was released in 2019. Styles has been touring throughout the U.S. since Sept. 4 and will continue until the end of November. Love on Tour was initially scheduled for summer 2021 but was rescheduled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This is only his second solo tour, following Harry Styles – Live on Tour.
Anticipation was high throughout the United Center as the crowd awaited Styles’s grand entrance. The dark ambiance of the stadium and the illumination of the lights only added to that excitement. As soon as the enchanting sound of “Golden” filled the stadium, the crowd went into a frenzy as Styles rose out from the middle of the stage to perform his first song.
Styles called back to his days in One Direction by singing “What Makes You Beautiful.” The crowd immediately erupted into a hysteria of jubilance as the opening of the song began to play, lots of them likely reveling in the One Direction days themselves.
Opening for Styles was indie rocker Jenny Lewis, who used a quirky skit of answering a phone call from her puppy to introduce her song, “Puppy in a Truck.” Lewis pranced around the stage in her sparkly, flared jumper and danced on top of a small platform of a pink heart during her performance. As she finished, she said a heartfelt thank you to Harry for changing her life.
With fans holding up posters of every kind trying to get Harry’s attention, the highlight of the night was when one girl holding a poster, which asked Harry to get her boyfriend to propose to her, caught his attention. Styles read the sign out loud to the crowd and encouraged the boyfriend to propose to her at that moment.
Multiple times throughout the performance, Styles ran around the stage holding up an LGBTQ+ and/or a Black Lives Matter flag to express his support for the two groups. The fans cheered in support every time he raised the flags.
Finishing up the night, Styles sang his most high-energy song – “Kiwi” – which filled the fans with adrenaline and hit them with a blast of energy that left them still singing as the night came to an end.
Style’s mesmerizing performance and the atmosphere of the stadium made for a memorable night. The concert exceeded expectations and left his fans waiting in anticipation for his next tour.
