Coming off of a losing streak, the Belvidere Bucs football team picked up its first win of the season Sept. 24th, topping the  the Jefferson J-Hawks, 14-6.

Senior running back Michael Loeding had a team-leading 120 rushing yards on 27 carries. Quarterback Juston Dennis had a rushing touchdown as well as 41 passing yards and a touchdown on 2 completions. Sophomore Jason Dean had the 28-yard touchdown reception.

“It felt great to get the first win of the season,” said senior Aaron Wolman. “Nothing better than winning the homecoming game.”

The Bucs’ defense looks to be coming together, as it scored a safety late in the fourth quarter, which led to an offensive touchdown.

“The coaches and I are very proud of the team for winning their first game of the season,” first-year head coach Tony Ambrogio said, “I think this win will have a positive impact for the rest of the season. We are starting to form an identity of playing tough D and a ball-control offense.”

This win means a lot to the team as this is its first home win since 2018. The Bucs will  try to carry the momentum over to the next game against , the Auburn Knights Oct. 1st at home.
