The boys’ varsity team season continues to go in the wrong direction as they dropped losses to East, Auburn and Jefferson this past week.

Varsity couldn’t pull off a win against Rockford East on Feb. 20. They lost 82-31 against the E-Rabs. Senior Zach Johnson led the way in scoring with 10 points with senior Nik Rhode behind him with 9 points.

The Bucs faced the Auburn Knights on Feb 23. They dropped another loss, losing 71-35. Senior Kaleb Hayes led the way in scoring with 9 points.

In regard to their loss to the Knights, Head Coach Brian Koehne said, “It was another tough loss. We obviously didn’t play our best. We started off well, but just need to learn how to compete for all 4 quarters.”

Senior Dylan Schohn said, “It has been a tough year from losing coach Salley to Covid-19, but we have to keep working and doing the little things to help us compete against teams in the NIC-10.”

Varsity lost again to the Jefferson J-Hawks on Feb 25. They lost 59-28. Seniors Ryan Morris and Hayes led the way in scoring with 6 points each. The boys’ JV team was back in action against the J-Hawks after their 2-week quarantine, they lost 47-27.

Both teams will play tomorrow, Saturday, Feb 27 at home against their rival, the Belvidere North Blue Thunder. The Bucs hope to get a win as tomorrow is senior night. JV plays at 11:30 and Varsity plays at 1 o’clock.
