The Bucs boys bowling team opened up their season at the Hononegah Season Kickoff Varsity tournament on Nov. 9, placing fourth with a total score of 5,898 pins.

Leading the way for the Bucs were freshman Johnny Carter in 12th place with 1,243 pins and seniors Greg Suthers placing 16th with 1,202 pins and Anthony Bychowski placing 20th with 1,191 pins.

“I was very happy with how we performed and it was a real team effort, everyone did their job,” said Suthers.

Junior Ryan Schoon bowled three consecutive strikes towards the end in the 10th frame of the series that played a vital part in the Bucs placing as high as they did. He earned Athlete of the Week at BHS for his effort.

The Bucs were only four pins short of placing third, and their score of 5,898 total pins would have qualified them for state last season.

“All I can say is that I am filled with extreme pride because this was 100 percent a team victory and every bowler was vital to this accomplishment,” said Head Coach Mark Felix.

The boys’ next match is on Nov. 20 against Marengo at Forest Hills Lanes.     –
