BHS places high at Top Chef

BHS students from culinary classes attended the Top Chef field trip and competed in the soup/chili off, placing second and third.

Leading the way for BHS were the following seniors: Milana Rovella, Maddy Hardt Tallia Griffis Brendan Monsen, Julia Costa, Moises Benitz Bueso, Leslie Romaniz, Kassi Molina and Jessica Rico.

The group that placed third consisted of seniors Payton Bruenau, Kylie O’Hern, Yareli Galicia, Cassandra Garcia, and Gabby Quist.

O’Hern said, “It was a good hands on experience, and it was hard earned.”

“After placing first, second, and third place at this competition last year, we had big shoes to fill. Even though Byron took the top spot, I was still very pleased with our second and third place finish. My students worked hard, showed what they could do and had fun which is most important,” said foods teacher Mrs. Kaylea Chomko.

In addition to competing in the soup/chili off, the students also learned about nature and farming.
