“This is my imagination, this is how it looks and sounds, but I gotta go so much bigger, so they can never shut me down I’m kinda scared of graduation ’cause who am I when this is done?”

This lyric is from AJR’s song Next Up Forever, which was the first song I listened to on their new album Neotheater and I have to say that it made a huge impression of how they have grown as artists but still keeping their old style. AJR released Neotheater on April 26, 2019, now is on a world tour with this new release.

After listening to the album multiple times in a row for the last week or so and it seems like every time I listen to a song something new pops in my brain or a lyric relates to a current situation. AJR has made a lot of songs in recent years but I can say that they truly have made some amazing music here from the different instruments they use to make the emotions in it. They all flow and grasp at your heart and mind to the lyrics themselves which pulls people in and makes them want to continue listening.

“I think Neotheater really captures the essence of what it is to be in your 20’s in today’s society. You become aware of how life is in the US really is how short innocence is it Birthday Party, not to mention the music is catchy and floating happiness despite what’s actually going on. Don’t Throw Out My Legos captures the feel with wanting to move out but not move on into the world. I just really enjoy the albums message as a whole and the beats are soothing and good,” said junior Lily Perez

There are 12 songs on the album and some of my favorite songs are Next Up Forever, Birthday Party, 100 Bad Days, Don’t Throw Out My Legos, Break My Face, Turning Out Pt. ii, The Entertainments Here, Karma, Wow, I’m Not Crazy, and last Finale (Can’t Wait To See What You Do Next). Yes, I know That is a long list but this shows how many good songs they have in one album.

Most artists have one to three good songs on their albums, but as I stated beforehand this group is different in the best of ways. If you think I’m crazy for liking this album so much on I Tunes they have a 4.5-star rating with about 90 percent of them rate it five stars.

“I already enjoyed their other album to an extent, but this album shows a sign of artist maturity and is a masterpiece of pop music. Please listen and focus on the lyrical themes. Neotheater is a really cool world and I loved how AJR explored it in this record,” according to The Autumn Reviews.

To put in final words I absolutely love this album and I can’t praise it enough for how it has made my listening experience so enjoyable. Anyone who loves alternative or pop music will love this album and I highly recommend listening to it on Spotify, Apple Music, Soundcloud, Pandora, and Google Play. I would rate this album 4.7- stars out of 5-stars.
