The girls varsity soccer team has had a rough start of the season. They have had a total of five games and unfortunately they have all resulted in losses.

The team is full of girls from all grade levels and only one head coach, Mr. Simon Stevens.

Coach Stevens said, “We have had a rough with injuries and and numbers and are looking to improve ball handling and game awareness,” Stevens has been the varsity coach for five years.

The team played North on March 21 and lost with a score of 5-0, the girls have yet to score in a game.

There are four seniors on this year’s team including, Alyssa Cerna, Yoyo Gardner, Giselle Lopez, and Abigail White. They have all been playing soccer since their freshman year.

Gardner said, “It’s a different season because we have new players and not having a full team for both JV and varsity but we’re making it work with what we have and hoping for a great season.”

The girls senior night will be May , here at Funderburg Stadium, and they will be facing Harlem.

The girls next game will be at this Saturday at Harvard High School.
