As February comes to an end, so does the 2018-19 winter sports season at BHS. Three of the sports concluding are Boys Bowling, Girls Bowling, and Wrestling.

Boys Bowling closed out their season placing eighth at the Rockford Jefferson Sectional with a score of 5,691. Before that, they placed fourth at the Belvidere North Regional with a score of 5,812.

“I felt good about this year. It was really cool being the team MVP this year, and hopefully, I can be even better next year,” said junior bowler Greg Suthers.

Girls Bowling finished out their season at the Rockford Jefferson Sectional. They finished in 10th place with a score of 4,907.

Prior to sectionals, the girls won their first regional title in school history. They placed first of 13 teams at the Carpentersville Regional with a score of 5,416.

In regionals, seniors Lexy Sherman and Hannah Whidby scored the highest individually for Belvidere, with 1186 and 1120 respectively.

Wrestling finished up their first season as a co-op team with three wrestlers from BHS making it to sectionals. Junior Presley Beasley of the 120 weight class and seniors Tavius Sanders and Glenn Winchel of the 162 and 182 weight classes, respectively advanced.

“It was a great experience placing third in regionals to advance to sectionals,” said Sanders.
