Cheer and dance prepare for the end of their seasons

The cheer team competed at the Niles West Cheer Invite on Jan. 13. They placed fifth out of 11 teams.

Sophomore Coe Walburg said, “At the beginning of the routine I was nervous but overall it was a fun experience for my first competitions.”

On Jan. 12 they competed at the Grayslake North Cheer Invite.

Before competing at these competitions they had a few challenges. The team worked hard during their practices to make their routine as good as it could get.

“This past weekend was a huge learning experience for a majority of the team. Saturday and Sunday mornings we made several large changes to see if they could work. They did result in a fifth place trophy that came home with us,” said coach Sam Peters.

They hosted the seventh annual Bucs Winter Cheer Classic on Jan. 5. They placed fourth in their division taking home a plaque.

Their next competition is Thursday Jan. 17 at the NIC-10 conference, hosted by Jefferson. After conference they have sectionals on Jan. 26 at Grayslake North.

The dance team competed on Jan. 13 at Grayslake Central. They placed 10th.

On Thursday, Jan. 10 they competed at the NIC-10 conference hosted by Rockford East. They finished in ninth place.

They competed at the Huntley High School Invite on Jan. 6. They finished 25th with a score of 61.50.

Their next comp is sectionals on Jan. 20 at Grayslake.
