The Bucs picked up their first win under coach Koehne this past Saturday, Dec. 15 here at Melvin L. Brown Gymnasium against Marian Central 76-63.

In the game, all five of Belvidere’s starters scored double-digit points. Senior Zach Tobler lead the way with 17, junior Zarius Dent had 14, seniors Adrion Dalipi and Austin Hausen each had 11, and senior Steven King had 10.

Belvidere controlled the game from start to finish, as they lead all the way through. Marian Central did have momentum at certain points and even pulled the game within two points in the 4th quarter, but Belvidere kept control.

“It felt really good to get our first win because we proved to ourselves that we have it in us to get wins and hopefully coming off of the win, we can continue to put in the work at practice and use the confidence coming off the win to win more games,” said Dent.

Last week, the Bucs played East on Dec. 12 and Boylan on Dec. 14. Neither game went the Bucs way, but Dent padded his league lead in rebounds and Tobler added on to his team-lead in points scored.

On Dec. 7, the Bucs came up short to Freeport 51-43. It was their narrowest in-conference loss to date this season. Tobler lead with 14 points.

“It’s a great personal achievement to be the leading scorer, but it doesn’t matter if we’re not winning games,” Tobler said, “and I’ll keep just keep practicing hard on and off the court and will keep my confidence and hope it leads us to some Ws.”

On Dec. 5, they dropped a 66-40 loss to Guilford. Dent led the way with seven points.

In other game, the team dropped a 73-64 loss the Harlem Nov. 30. Dent led the way with 18 points. Tobler added 14 while Dalipi had 13.
