Boys and girls cross country sprints to the finish

The boys cross country team ran at sectionals on Oct. 27. The season did come to an end with the boys placing 18th overall.

Junior Nick Fiore ended the season as the top finisher for boys. He placed 39th followed by senior John Allen.

“This was a great season for the Bucs. Thanks to my teammates and my coach for pushing me harder this season,” said Fiore.

On Oct. 20, the boys ran at regionals. They placed sixth overall allowing them to advance to conference as a team.

Fiore placed 13th overall with a time of 16:26. Allen followed Fiore placing 31st with a time of 17:02.

The girls cross country team had two runners advance to sectionals at Woodstock. Senior Alliyah Lebensorger placed 55th overall and a time of 19:52. Freshman Kaleigh Inniss followed placing 70th and a time of 20:14.

“I was super excited for breaking 20 minute time and having a new personal record first meet of the season,” said Lebensorger.

The girls competed at regionals on Oct. 20. The team placed 7th overall. Inniss placed 23rd overall with a time of 20:28 followed by Lebensorger placing 33rd with a time of 20:54.

Senior Emma Salley said, “ After three rough seasons, I’m so glad to come back and enjoy the sport again.”

Both boys and girls cross country seasons came to an end after the sectional races.
