The Boys Track Team hosted Harlem and Jefferson in a NIC-10 conference matchup on Tuesday, April 10.

The boys placed second as a team, but had many individuals place first in their respective events. Senior Sam Arco took first in the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:02.47, junior Michael Kurtenbach in the long jump with a jump of 19′ 1 1/2″.

Senior Phil Kolk in the triple jump with a jump of 41′ 6 1/4″, senior Jake Petersen with a throw of 137′, senior Kalen Murray in high jump with a jump of 5′ 8″, and junior Austin Hausen in pole vault with a height of 11′ 6″.

“I got off to a good start and I never looked back. It was a pretty good time for not having a meet in the last month,” said Arco.

The 4 x 400 relay team of senior JR Taylor, Murray, Kolk and Kurtenbach also placed first with a time of 3:41.53.

“It felt good to get the first jump of the season in. Triple jump isn’t easy, and placing first in my first meet will hopefully set a foundation for the rest of the season,” said Kolk.

The boys next meet will be the Freeport Invite on Saturday, April 14.
