The Lady Bucs’ girls soccer team shut out Harvard in front of the home crowd on Saturday, April 7. The 3-0 victory was the team’s first of the season.

“We’ve struggled to gel as a team,” said Coach Simon Stevens “but on Saturday we did.”

Goals were scored by junior Alyssa Cerna, junior Luiza Hernandez, and senior Elizabeth Resendiz (assisted by Giselle Lopez).

“It felt great because it’s the first game where we actually played like a team, we didn’t give up on each other and we kept our cool,” said senior Alondra Murillo.

The win was a relief for the Bucs, as they started the season with 8 straight losses and only five goals.

“We played a good basic formation and all did their jobs, The competition was less than in previous games,” said Stevens. “Hopefully we can build on the successes we had and implement them in more challenging games.”

The girls lost their next game to Elgin Larkin on April 9, 8-1.

The girls will take on Jefferson on their home turf tonight. The match starts at 6:30 pm.
