The Boys Co-op Volleyball team got their first conference win on April 10, and they took third at the Guilford Invite last weekend after losing to Boylan in two sets on April 5 and losing to Jefferson on April 3.

The boys beat Auburn at home in two sets. Senior Mark Silis lead the team with three kills while junior Brandon Keeney had six assists and nine digs. The match scores were 25-16 and 25-21.

The guys played five matches on Saturday, and they finished with a 4-1 record which was enough to get them a third place trophy.

“I think that placing third will give us a lot more confidence going into the rest of these conference matches,” said junior Brandon Mendoza.

The boys faced Boylan on April 5. They dropped their first set 14-25, and they lost the second set 13-25. Junior Dylan Brooks ended the match with seven digs and one ace, but the team still wasn’t able to secure their first win.

“I think that what really went wrong is the fact that we doubted ourselves after looking at the other team, and we didn’t compete as well as we should have,” said Brooks.

The team was looking to pick up their first win in their home opener against Jefferson on April 3, but unfortunately the guys lost in two sets. They lost the first set 10-25 and their second set 20-25. Silis picked up two kills on the match.

In their next match, the boys will face off against the Hononegah Indians at home on April 17.
