The Lady Bucs softball team took on Marengo at home on March. 17.

The girls took a tough loss to defending 3A state champs Marengo Indians with a final score of 13-1. Senior Katelyn Wingren went 2 for 3 with a triple and junior Avry Blume went 1 for 2 with a sac.

“It was a tough match up for our first game, but it set us up to improve during the season,” said senior MacKenzie Beattie.

In their next game the girls lost to DeKalb with a final score of 15-9. Wingren went 4 for 5 with two runs and Blume went 4 for 5 with a homerun and two RBIs. Junior Mallory Gibbons helped out by going 3 for 5 on the day.

”The outcome wasn’t what we wanted, but it showed what we need to work on for the rest of the season and how we need to improve,” said Gibbons.

The softball team will host the Belvidere Quad Tournament over Spring Break.
