Mens Swimming and Diving places sixth at sectionals

The Men’s Swimming and Diving team was back in action on Saturday, Feb. 22, finishing sixth at the IHSA Sectional Championship at Jefferson High School with 103.5 points.

Senior Jacob Hedberg won the diving competition, and will be advancing to the IHSA State Finals for the fourth consecutive year.

“All eyes turn to Jacob Hedberg as he competes at the State Meet this weekend, trying to earn All-State honors for the fourth time,” said Head Coach Mr. David Graffy.

Hedberg has placed 12th, 11th, and 10th his first three years with the team.

Junior Devin Green finished second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:48, giving the coop team 13 points. Green also added another 13 points in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:56.

The 400-yard freestyle relay team of junior Oryi Tucker, junior Jacob Pearson, freshman Daniel Golonka, and Green finished in fourth place, at 3:29, giving the team 22 points.

The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Tucker, Pearson, Golonka, and Green finished fifth with a time of 1:33, tacking on another 20 points.
