Lady Bucs prepare for Regionals

The Lady Bucs lost, 51-23, in a crosstown matchup against the Belvidere North Blue Thunder on Thursday, Feb. 8.

Senior Bryanna Williams scored 10 points and snagged 10 rebounds. Senior M’Kahla Miner added another nine points and nine rebounds. The girls fell short in what was the seniors last home game.

“Our team has improved tremendously from the beginning of the season. We need everyone from top to bottom doing their best and playing a smart mental game. This will be key,” said coach Christina Douglas.

The girls will advance to the first round of Regionals. They will play at Marengo, against Genoa Kingston, tonight.

In the girls previous matchup with Genoa Kingston, the girls dropped a close 40-37 loss on a fourth quarter buzzer beater to end the game.

“As a team we are now mentally and physically prepared to take on Genoa for the second time. Losing to them in the beginning of the season from a buzzer beater has given us the drive to push ourselves everyday at practice to become better individually and as a whole. We are thirsty for a win and ready for revenge. Every one of us is excited to take them on for our first regional game,” said Miner.

If  the girls beat Genoa Kingston. They will advance to play Burlington Central on Tuesday, Feb. 13.
